Diwali Love Under Atishbazi Lights
A Diwali Love Story - Under The Lights of Chandni Chowk
A heart-touching festival love story | By Boom-Bom
Diwali in Delhi is not a festival, it's a feeling. And for Aarav, it was just another day of crowd, lights and noise in Chandni Chowk.
Until he saw her.
The First Glance
Aarav was struggling to hold 4 boxes of laddoos from the famous shop. The lane was full, people were bursting crackers, kids were laughing.
At a small stall selling handmade diyas, stood a girl. In a simple yellow kurta, trying to light a diya that kept going off due to the wind.
"The wind always wins on Diwali," Aarav said without thinking.
She looked up, smiled. "Then we have to light it together, no?"
He kept his laddoo boxes down and cupped his hands around her diya. She lit it. For a second, the light was only on their faces.
"Aarav. The professional diya protector."
The Lost Jhumka
They started walking through the market together. Talking like they knew each other for years. Myra was looking for a pair of jhumkas for her mother.
In the crowd, someone pushed Myra. Her one jhumka fell somewhere in the crowd.
"Oh no, my mother's favourite design!" she was almost in tears.
Aarav didn't think twice. He sat down on the crowded street, with his phone torch on, searching in the dust. People were looking at him like he was crazy.
After 2 minutes, he found it. A little dirty, but safe.
He cleaned it with his own kurta and gave it to her.
Under The Fireworks
At 8 PM, the sky above Jama Masjid burst into colors. Everyone stopped to look up. Aarav and Myra were on the rooftop of a small chai shop.
"Make a wish," Myra said.
Aarav closed his eyes. "I wished that next Diwali, I don't have to search for a reason to come to Chandni Chowk."
Myra blushed. The fireworks reflected in her eyes. And Aarav realized, he had come to buy lights for his house, but he found the light of his life.
He gave her a small, handmade diya from her stall. "Keep it. When you light it next year, I'll know where to come."
This Diwali, some people light diyas for gods.
Some light a diya and find love. 🪔
